Default Ilayaraja in malayalam films

***hough he is a good md, people just give too much credit to him. I have heard more good songs in malayalam films from other mds. He has typecasting problem. Any way all the mds just take strings from karnatic music. for ex. kochu kochu.. music is just ordinary. They promote it as a master thing.

I think that there aren't any good recent music directors for malayalam films....that's why the dullness in audio business there...

IR doesn't have a good position in malayalam maybe because he can't get into there nativity...***hough now the music scene is changing but not most people want to put the fate of there movie on IR's shoulder....

Vidhyasagar is OK...but he is not consistent and he repeats his songs....like 'Malare moounama' became 'Oru raathiri koodi'. The same orchestration...he is not as successful as ARR. ARR doesn't make that many melody songs but each one he made stands out in orchestration and composition....the difference between 'Thendrale thendrale mella' and 'Kurukku chirithavale' is vast but both are catchy melodies...

I think Malayalam music directors lack that ability because they rely too heavily on carnatically inclined songs...

Of late, hardly any MD holds on to his ground in Malayalam cinema. Just look, past few years how many MDs were able to make a dwelling in the Malayalee minds? What is left with us today are a few ones like, Ouseppachan, Johnson, Bombay Ravi and Ravindran. Vidyasagar, Sithara, S.P. Venkatesh, etc. are just meteors.

not to forget yaathra - though thannannam thaanannam was a copy from sound of music. aatirambile from kaalaapani was also a nice song to listen.

Ilayaraja is the best music director to have come up in INdia so far. The gentle Country touch and brings real life in the songs.
His best in Malayalam: Yaathra, Kaalapani, Poomukapadiyil ninneyum Kaathu, more..
