The Kerala film industry had its moments of glory at the IIFA Awards when its very own Mohanlal, who grabbed the 'Best Supporting Actor' honour for his role in COMPANY, used the occasion to highlight the achievements of the regional cinema. "Indian film industry is huge and Malayalam film industry is just a small part of it," Mohanlal said of filmmaking in Kerala, adding, "It has produced some of the best movies in the country and has some of the best talent."
The industry also has many firsts to its credit -- first 70mm film, first cinemascope film, first 3-D film and first co-produced film with France, which was showcased at the prestigious Cannes Festival, he noted. The film that won accolades at the French festival was VAANAPRASTHAM directed by Shaji N Karun, in which Lal played a troubled Kathakali dancer.
"And today, I have the privilege to be the first actor from that Industry to win an IIFA Award," he said, "It shows there are no language barriers in cinema. Human emotions are the same everywhere." Lal ended his speech with a hope that there will come a truly international cinema, where all barriers or language and region and religion will go. In Ramgopal Varma's COMPANY, Mohanlal played a South Indian police chief in Mumbai who successfully wipes out the underworld.

guys, udayon going to make kerala rock with thunderstorms. today its released and in all major centres paandipada was shifted to noon shows or to small theatres.
Udayon shows the superb range of lal. his fathers and son duo roles are making kerala saying "lal at his best".
Are u ashamed dileep who was born in yesterdays rain can never beat the popularity of lalettan. AND FROM HIS OWN WORDS IN THE INTERVIEWS DILEEP SAYS THAT HEISMAKING FILM FOR CHILDREN> kuttikalanu ee padam kaanendathu. Lalettan never ever says like that.
His movies are for all. from 6-86 every one enjoys lalettans movie. you guys supporting dileep were fans of lalettan. its not the actor the director is making films.

FIRST DAY AT TRIVANDRUM NEW THEATER(30-07-2005)
Thousands came to see the film ignoring heavy rain
On 30th, the theater was full of banners, flux and cutouts of Mohanlal. The first show started at 8.30 AM. So many including Fans association members Cannot attend the first show.They waited for the next show ,which started at 1.30 PM. People formed queue just after the starting of the first show. For these time people couldn't eat or drink anything.After the starting of the next show also a long queue was found remaining, they were trying for the next show.People who didn't get the tickets reserved their tickets for tommorrows show and went home.
Police Lathicharge at Trivandrum
There was heavy crowd at the theater. The crowd was out of control. Police began to lathicharge and many affected very much by this. The Police were inhumane and they attacked everyone they got. During running afraid of police many injured. During the release of the first show there was huge lathicharge. Many motorcycle travellers fell down during the rush. A Police man ran after the crowd for a long distance .
Black Tickets never fell below Rs 100/-
The cost of tickets in black was above 100 rupees. It is interesting that there were many people to *violation*violation*violation tickets at any cost. There were many old men as well as women to see the film on first day.
Inside the theater
Inside the theater, in many occasions people jumped out of their seats. During action scenes they said jai to mohanlal and showered flowers and paper strips*violation*violation*violation*violation the end of the film all of them stood up and clapped.Many came with drums and they celebrated the victory of the film by conducting rally outside the theater.

UDAYON REVIEW
The movie Udayon by Bhadran released all over kerala.The film has an excellent response from the viewers.The movie tells the story of Sooranaadukunju, who is the central character in this film. Mohanlal plays this role.The film takes the viewers to a village where agriculture is considered as a heavenly job. Sooranaadu kunjuloves his land than his children and he is a strict character. He never like a person insulting land. The movie contains action scenes with most technical perfection. Mohanlal is also acting as the son of Sooranaadu kunju.His name is Sooranaad Pappoyee.The first half deals with introducing characters and the second half is strictly on the story.The movie ends with a touching climax. Even a hard hearted mall will shed tears at this climax. The songs with graphics and technical perfection was welcomed by viewers with great applause. The last action scene by Sooranaadu Kunju made the viewers to jump out of their seats. The ending of the film with mohanlal's cry telling "DAIVAMEE..." is the wonderful scene of this film. Manoj k jayan acting is also very good. No doubt, there is a National award chance for MOHANLAL. The story is for youngsters as well as family audience.The climax scene is the highlight.
