Story:
The genre of detective movies which require great story telling skills and a gripping script find their match in this movie which can be viewed except for some horribly made songs. This murder mystery actually begins with the story of Jacob George (Sreenivasan) a D S P who has not got into any investigations as he was much into office and administration work gets his chance when he has to investigate the death of the pretty Dr Aparna Venugopalan who happens to be the daughter of a we*violation*violation*violationhy man and will be on the verge of seeking divorce from husband Dr Venugopal (Sai Kumar) who is having their ten year old son Arun. Aparna , known for her profile with her lovers has a long list which also includes struggling musician Thipprayar Madhavan. The day Aparna is dead happens to be the day she has got her official divorce from husband in return for her son and also that is the day when she wants to give herself to advocate Anand for getting her the divorce. What initially gets ruled by the police as a suicide due to overdose of a drug takes a new turn when they receive an anonymous e-mail stating it was a murder and not suicide. How Jacob George solves the case forms the rest of the story.
Presentation:
Director George Manu manages to pull off an entertainer though there are certain visible flaws in the film. The first half passes off peacefully in a lighter vein with some good humour by Jagathy as the MD of the pharmaceutical company and Lekshmi Sarma as Dr Aparna but the story takes a turn with the arrival of Srinivasan and the second half gets more serious. Srinivasan carried out the role of the police officer with great confidence and ease and the other cast like Indrajith, Jyothirmai,Niyas and Sai Kumar along with others have given a professional performance.Anandakuttan was good with his camera but the visualization of the songs were a mess. Editing has been slick and the highlight of the movie has been the exceptional screenplay by Dennis Joseph that kept the movie on the right track.
Conclusion:
A different subject handled very bravely and also touches the finer side of relationships and obsession which kind of covers up for few directorial flaws. Good acting combined with some exceptional technical support has made the movie a watchable affair. Picturisation of songs needed a lot of improvement and not much can be said about the two numbers in the movie.
