Will Joshy be able to make his multi-starrer Christian Brothers with Mohanlal, Suresh Gopi, Dileep, Manoj K Jayan, Biju Menon, Thilakan, Kavya Madhavan Padmapriya and Tamil ‘Action King’ Arjun doing a cameo?

The powerful Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) has said that the Christian Brothers should be banned! The KFPA President Sabu Cheriyan has said that cost of making Malayalam films should be reduced.

They say the huge salary paid out to superstars is the main reason why the cost of a film is shooting up.

KFPA have decided that henceforth the total production cost of a film with a superstar should not go beyond Rs 3.5 crores and filming should be completed by 45 days of time. And the film roll which is used should not exceed 60,000 feet.

KFPA feels that Christian Brothers is a big budget film and its cost will exceed Rs 3.5 Crore and so they are banning it.

But Joshy the director of the film and its producers Anoop and Subair feel that they are being targeted by vested interests within KFPA!

Malayalam movie Christian Brothers was launched with much pomp and show. The word spread like fire about the unique team of Mohanlal, Sureshgopi, Dileep, Kavya Madhavan, Manoj K Jayan, Biju Menon, Padmapriya, Thilakan and the Action King from Tamil Arjun under the direction of veteran filmmaker Joshy. However not much days have passed since the formal announcement and the movie is already caught in a mesh of controversies.

Kerala Film Producers Association (KFPA) has been vehemently demanding a ban on the Malayalam movie Christian Brothers. KFPA President Sabu Cheriyan has made it clear that the production cost of Malayalam movies have to be reduced and therefore these multi-starrers have to be banned.


According to KFPA, the remuneration doled out to the superstars is said to be the main reason for the cost of a film being on the higher side. Therefore KFPA has decided that in future the total production cost of a film with a superstar in the lead should not exceed Rs 3.5 crores and that the film should be completed in a time period of 45 days.

KFPA has announced that Christian Brothers is a big budget movie and therefore the cost will go beyond Rs 3.5 crores and therefore they have to ban it. However filmmaker Joshy and his team are of the notion that they have been targeted as KFPA has a hidden agenda.
