Malayalam superstars have never shyed away from competing with each other through their films.
Mohanlal attempted a rather disastrous Kadathanadan Ambadi in and effort to match Oru Vadakkan Veeragatha. Similarly Mammootty bit the dust when Valyettan was moulded in the genre of the firebrand Induchoodan. Harmless digs at each other coated with a tinge of humour also has been attempted on numerous occasions and always they have been taken in the right spirit by the leading pillars of Malayalam cinema.
The stage has been set again with a rare coincidence this monsoon, Puthenveettil Gopalakrishna Pillai and Parunthu Purushothaman are both private financiers with a visibly cruel heart. This time all were expecting a close competition when both films announced their releasing date as July 11th. The similarity in roles was a matter of discussion for quite a long time as the initial background for Mammootty film was that of an auto driver.
Madambi completed in a single schedule which is rather rare these days, also completed the post production works in record time and hit the screens a week earlier than the scheduled date. The script writer cum director of Madambi, B Unnikrishnan had a surprise in store for the audience this time. In the film hero Gopalakrishna Pillai was seen mouthing certain dialogues which were a dig at Parunthu.
Just after the release of Madambi, interesting news came that Parunthu had been postponed to 18th July. According to our sources, the first copy of the film was ready by July 5th. Now we can check the director’s version. According to the director, after seeing the first copy on 5th, he felt that he need a comedy song in the movie, since such a song would provide some relaxation in an otherwise serious movie.
But the news is that along with the song, they will shoot some more scenes for the film with tit-for-tat dialogues for the Madambi dialogue. But it will be included in the film after the approval of Mammootty. So all the fans of both superstars can wait and watch with the fingers crossed.
