Sathyan Damn he can ACT. Sathyan knows the true meaning of acting. I haven't seen his whole lot of movies but the ones i saw were the GREATEST MOVIES I EVER SEEN. HIS NATURALITY AND REALITY ON HIS ACTINGS ARE SIMPLY THE BEST.

No doubt sathyan is the best actor. See Kadalppalam, Vazhve mayam, Karakanakkadal, Oru penninte katha, Anubhangal Palichakal etc.
mohanlal & Mammootty are good, but Sathyan is the best.

Kadal Paalam is superb. He makes the others look like kids in acting. Same in Chemmeen

Accidentally stumbled on this site - some of the comments were downright cheap, but the very fact that the actor Sathyan is still debated about after some many decades after his death speaks itself for what Sathyan is worth about as an actor.
In a period, when the movie-world was yet to come out of the drama style, Sathyan portrayed a different style of acting that is perhaps still valid as nobody has yet bettered him! Theatrics apart, which was simply a necessity at that time if the movies were to run, Sathyan still stands a titan in this field.
Remember the scenes from Odayil Ninnu - how he pulled the riksha, how he held his bidi between his teeth, how he coughed and melted away in the end - see it and then comment.
Recall the scenes from Vashve Mayam - the scene where he sits with his bowed head on both his hands in the government office where he works after receiving the divorce notice from his wife!
See Thettu - where he tries to elicit from his step-daughter the details about her affair with a young man that she loves - just watch those voice modulation, tone and body movements!
See Anubhavangal Palichakal - remember the scene where, *violation*violation*violationhough in hiding, he could not resist the temptation to join a demonstration rally - or recall his face when he learns about the death of his daughter and his son shows him where his young daughter has been buried!
Sathyan may not be the ultimate pinnacle of what is acting - for the concept of acting changes with time - and the present day actors are really great, but I feel pity at those who drag in an Actor who lived his life (and roles) decades ago and pit him against some of the current actors.
Forget it - Sathyan was great, is great and will remain great - as long as Malayalam films are there! You cannot separate them!
Good luck!
